At The Lighting Club, we want your shopping experience to feel seamless from checkout to delivery. The following Shipping & Returns Policy outlines how orders, deliveries, returns and refunds are handled in accordance with applicable South African consumer protection laws, including the Consumer Protection Act (“CPA”).


Shipping & Delivery

Delivery Areas

We currently deliver throughout South Africa using trusted courier partners.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer international shipping.


Processing Times

Orders are processed during standard business days:
Monday – Friday
(excluding public holidays)

Depending on the product and supplier availability, orders may require:

  • immediate dispatch,
  • supplier transfer time, or
  • made-to-order lead times.

Estimated delivery lead times are displayed on product pages where applicable.


Delivery Timeframes

Estimated delivery times after dispatch:

  • Major metropolitan areas: approximately 2–5 business days
  • Regional/outlying areas: approximately 3–7 business days

Delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed.


Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on:

  • order size,
  • weight,
  • product category, and
  • delivery location.

From time to time, The Lighting Club may offer promotional free shipping campaigns subject to specific terms and conditions.


Order Tracking

Once your order has been dispatched, tracking information will be provided where available.


Delivery Requirements

Customers are responsible for ensuring:

  • delivery details are accurate,
  • someone is available to receive the order,
  • the delivery location is safely accessible.

Additional delivery charges may apply for:

  • failed delivery attempts,
  • re-deliveries,
  • remote locations,
  • special handling requirements.

Inspection Upon Delivery

We recommend inspecting your order upon delivery.

If the packaging appears visibly damaged, please:

  • notify the courier immediately,
  • take photographs where possible,
  • contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

Failure to report transit damage within a reasonable period may affect claim eligibility.


Returns & Refunds

Change-of-Mind Returns

In accordance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (“ECTA”), customers may return eligible online purchases within 7 days of delivery for a refund, subject to the conditions below.

To qualify for a change-of-mind return:

  • items must be unused,
  • in original packaging,
  • in resalable condition,
  • with all accessories and documentation included.

Return courier costs for change-of-mind returns are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed.

Original shipping charges may be non-refundable.


Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that is:

  • damaged,
  • defective,
  • faulty, or
  • incorrect,

please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with:

  • your order number,
  • photographs of the issue,
  • a description of the problem.

Where applicable, we may offer:

  • replacement,
  • repair,
  • store credit, or
  • refund,

in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act.


Faulty Products & CPA Rights

Under the Consumer Protection Act, customers may be entitled to remedies for defective goods within 6 months of purchase, provided the defect is not caused by:

  • misuse,
  • abuse,
  • improper installation,
  • negligence,
  • unauthorised modifications,
  • normal wear and tear.

The Lighting Club reserves the right to inspect returned products before approving refunds or replacements.


Non-Returnable Items

The following items may not qualify for return unless defective:

  • custom-made or made-to-order items
  • special imports
  • clearance or final-sale products
  • installed products
  • products damaged after delivery
  • used bulbs or electrical components
  • items without original packaging

Installation & Electrical Products

Electrical and lighting products should be installed by a qualified electrician where required.

The Lighting Club will not be liable for damage resulting from:

  • incorrect installation,
  • improper use,
  • power surges,
  • electrical faults,
  • unauthorised modifications.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds are processed via the original payment method where possible.

Refund processing times may vary depending on:

  • payment provider,
  • banking institution,
  • inspection requirements.

Please allow approximately 5–10 business days after approval for refunds to reflect.

  • reason for return,
  • supporting photographs where applicable.

Returns sent without prior approval may not be accepted.


Stock Availability

While we make every effort to ensure accurate stock availability, certain products may occasionally become unavailable due to supplier or inventory changes.

In such cases, customers will be offered:

  • a suitable alternative,
  • store credit, or
  • a full refund.
